NYC Youngster Buys Loaded Semi-Automatic Handgun At School For $3

It should come as no surprise to any parent that kids will bring home the darnedest things. Whether it is a slimy toad or a sniffling cold, they'll certainly keep you on your toes. Those items, as irritating as they may be, however, pale in comparison to an item one New York parent's child recently brought home from school.

"On April 28, police responded to PS 107 Thomas A. Dooley on 45th Avenue in Queens for a male eight-year-old that bought a 9mm semi-automatic loaded firearm," a spokeswoman for the City of New York Police Department told Weird News.

Police say the third-grader purchased the gun for $3 from another eight-year-old child and took the weapon home. The boy thought the gun was a toy and showed it to his mother, who recognized it as a real handgun. The irate mother took her son and the pistol back to the school, where school administrators immediately contacted police.

According to Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, the gun had "three live rounds in it and ... a live round was found on the floor of the school room," Kelly told reporters.

The unidentified eight-year-old who sold the weapon has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon. His father, whom police have identified as 54-year-old Ignacio Galvin, has been charged with criminal possession and acting in a manner to injure a minor, police said.

"The father has made statements that he purchased the gun for self-protection," Kelly said.

The child who purchased the handgun has not been charged, police said.

Parents dropping their children off at the school in the Flushing section of Queens today were speechless, according to NY1 News.
"I'm shocked. Completely shocked, and very upset," said one parent.

    "Outraged. I'm outraged," said another.

I read it was a Taurus PT99. So the value for the price paid was about right.

Oh...well I'd definitely pay $3 for PT-99. I might even pay $4 for one...especially if it included a loaded mag.

I'd go $6.00 if it includes a juice box and a nap.

We obviously need to be in a public school system in a city with draconian gun laws, an overwhelming "D" voter base and an arrogant pompous anti gun ass for a mayor to really get the good deals.

I wonder what would happen if I stormed into a school, yelling and screaming, with a loaded handgun.
