    Default Help with gun value

I have a pistol I took in trade that I thinking about offering up for sale or trade but I am not sure what a fair market value is. Is it ok to post pics and description here to get opinions of the value?

    Default It's a newer one

The G10 grips are new style, the dayglo fiber optic sight isn't factory. Coating used seems to be standard springfield.

I'd GUESS that this person took his springfield commander "loaded" and had it bobtailed. It's something you can do yourself, or have a gunsmith do. Personally I wouldn't pay more than 650 for it, but I don't like commanders and I don't like bobtailing. The fiberoptic front sight is wrong on a carry pistol, too fragile.

RETAIL on a loaded commander, I'd say around 800 to 900 new. The work he had done is a wash, doesn't add value, doesn't really detract either.

That being said, if the gun shoots well for you, heck - keep it!

I've got quite a few unique pistols that were "modded" and for some reason I just don't seem to part with them, they have a certain character and flair that is non-factory standard. Custom without the custom price? Dunno, but they make for good conversation at a barbeque!

You may also want to ditch the magazine and get a few flush fit 8 rounders.
The whole purpose of the Bob Job is for conceal ability, and that magazine sticking out the bottom just negated any advantage the Bob Job gave it.
As far as price, it is worth what someone is willig to give for it.
It is a nice looking pistol by the way.

The year of manufacture should be stamped under the right grip panel, let us know.

    Default Marks

Depending on the manufacturer those marks MIGHT be proof marks, might be production run ID's, little of it germane to it's model.

Testing for hardness, for instance, they have to "ping" a surface of the gun, maybe the quotation marks.
