Default Sightin' in the new one....

So, I put 99 rounds through my new M-4 this morning. First tiem shooting it, just got it (pics coming) Very first round the spent shell did'nt eject. Ran a rod and goit it out, 98 more shots with no problems... EXCEPT

It's new outta the box. I had reasonalbe expectations that I should have been able to hit paper withm the factoryt iron sights.... oh no.... It took 75 rounds to just get paper. I fiddle fucked around adjusting the rear sights. and got a group about four inches but to the right substatialy, adjuted windage and got it move over but... then .... I ran outta shells. Damn it. I had another 100 at home....

I need to do some studying on this.....

Congrats on the new gun! Sucks that you ran out of ammo.

Bore sight, bore sight, bore sight...shouldnt take more than a few rounds to get a rifle on line.

You say this is an M-4. Is it a real M-4 or an AR?

Oh, and pics or it didnt happen!!

Describe the sighting in issue- it may be that there is a mechanical issue with the weapon. Is the grouping consistent or are you printing all over the place?

Absolutely should not take 75 rounds to dial it in-typically takes 20 or less.
I would be suspect of a weapon related issue.

How big and how far was your target before you started sighting in?

Once I finally got it on paper, it had a nice grouping. This was at 50 yards. I was shooting at a ten inch circle. I was just getting them moved to center. They were hitting low and to the left. At the end I didn't once hit at 100 yards.
