For the rider: Weight ("less than ounces matter" if you are serious) and safety (no extraneous parts).
For the Mfgr and/or supplier: You guessed it...partially...cost per build and/or then retail uplift to cover. Also, they build to purpose, an MTB intended for "real use" is not targeted to a consumer desirous of a kick-stand (i.e. "don't give me the added cost and weight for worthless parts that are going to get yanked-off as soon as I buy it.")
PSA - No reflectors either, take that shit off your wheels, your stem and your seat post unless your intended use is pure "urban" road-sharing.![]()
