Very cool and good to know... Moose scat, big pellets. Deer scat, smaller pellets. I think I have seen both on the trail, but can now differentiate them.
Yes, moose berries are easy to ID because of their perfect cylindrical shape, rounded ends and woody component. Deer and elk can often be difficult to distinguish, highly variable in size and shape depending on the moisture of vegetation they consume and the size of the animal. They can be round, cylindrical or like Hershey Kisses drops.
In the picture above the smaller, older, drier, and some eroded and lighter colered droppings on the left are from a cow calf moose in February. The larger, shiny moist ones on the right were made by an adult cow moose about eight days ago. Bull moose berries are larger yet.
