And way to reinforce that, my only plan when I go to the range is "pistol, rifle, shotgun, zero something, or a combination"...

    No, that's not a plan.

    my plan today (specifically) was:

reconfirm functioning of SHTF pistol ammo
reconfirm I can still hit a target (w/pistol)
    run 1-5 drills with pistols

    Zero BUIS on carbine
Confirm eye relief of precision AR
confirm proper functioning of new rifle length buffer system
Just doing what I can to stay on this side of the dirt.

BC...I don't know about plinking. I load different stuff, depending on what is available, and try and figure out how it's going to shoot. My max distance with any kind of reliablility is 100 yards, and I'm still trying to figure out the differences between projectiles, loads and all that, and how stuff behaves.

Dude, if there's something you want to know more about, I'll put together a quick little video and YouTube it up. I've already got one on how to build your position for the prone.

This is the sort of plan that I typically have when I go to the range, but then at the end, I usually put up some steel and burn through ~50 rounds.

    ^ LOL

I was only slightly kidding. With pistol, my plan is usually working on smaller groups at 15, 25 and 50yds (they're huge by the way lol), counting rounds, working on trigger discipline (I always let the trigger go all the way and I'm trying to break that habit), malfunction drills, and draw from holster, shoot twice, reholster.

I honestly don't shoot that much rifle lately, out of match 22 ammo, but I have gotten the hang of shooting a gong at 200yds with it (learning holdovers). My AR has a reddot, so I usually shoot irons out at 100yds for groups while working on breathing.

But you're right, I should write down a plan before I go so I know what I'm doing.

I normally go to a range that has quite a bit of steel. Today I needed to be more focused, so I went to one that has very segmented lanes.

OBC, by plinking I just meant shooting for fun. Not shooting for groups, just having a blasting good time. Although I guess plinking really refers to shooting at steel plates and whatnot, where it actually goes plink, plink, miss, miss, miss, miss, miss, miss, miss, plink, miss, miss... LOL

This will be a training scar.

shooting only twice is saying that it will only take two shots from a handgun to get the job done. That might not be the case.

thats why I ALWAYS do the 1-5 drill.
