WTF kind of roof is that?

Just standing in this hole to take this picture, I got spider webs all over my face. The detached garage is the infamous T-lock. What you see on the porch is a modified bitumen. It is a 90lb asphalt shingle that is just rolled on. Mod bit is stronger than rolled roofing. Any slope that is 2/12 or less should have that type of roofing. The slope is so low that wind blown rain will be blown up under shingles. That's why you usually see porches with a different roofing material than the main house.

I had roofers from Louisiana and Oklahoma stopping by once a week until we replaced the t-lock shingles on our roof.

Yeah, roofers drive around looking for them. I even had a claim the other day because the neighbor had T-lock. Now companies have changed their policy so there is no longer matching. Meaning, before, if you couldn't match, you'd replace the entire thing. So roofers would drive around and look for T-lock (not made anymore), go up to "inspect" for damage, pull off a single shingle, then have the home owner turn a claim in. Well now, it doesn't matter that you can't match, a single shingle will just be a repair. I've had to deal with that a bit already. As you can imagine, the roofers are less than pleased to find out about the changes.
