That's the one. Hilarious! And with a pacing that most action movies lack nowadays...

The Harry Potter movies make a lot more sense if you read the books. He's able to be underwater because he ate some gillyweed.

    He's crushing on Cho Chang.

Werd Gray. Book #4 is when the books go from 250 pages each to 600+ each. So movie #4 has a ton of stuff cut out of it. Must be disorienting watching that as the first movie.

80's action movies, for all their scripted predictability, are actually fun to watch. it's hard to understand these days why ALL movies need to have a giant amount of inner meaning and depth.

why can't a movie just be fun and fantastical?

You are preaching to the choir. What's wrong with the hero being a hero? Kicking ass unapologetically. Fast car, guns, knives, martial arts, righting the wrongs...

Yeah, he ate some Gillyweed, which allows him to breathe underwater because it lets him grow gills temporarily.

The books are written on a fourth-grade level, weren't bad for a "Gary Stu" storyline, but clearly had a lot of self-inserts from the author.

i think everyone thinks that a movie needs to win an award.

a movie needs to entertain and pay the bills (of the movie production itself). anything more is just gravy on top. not everything needs to be a cannes film festival selection.
