I've looked at the Jeep and the GMC in the TP. Not sure what I'll get since I didn't get much for a 15 year old Explorer. First searches on USAA's car buying service haven't been great. I didn't realize vehicles 10+ years old with over 100k miles could maintain a price like they do.

I've never found USAA's car buying service helpful. I never saw a deal on there.

Check out the used lots at a reputable dealer or CL.

We bought my wife's car through it and got a decent deal, not great, but good enough. I looked at kbb and nada for prices and I'm realizing that the truecar prices seem to be bs. TC is usually at least a few thousand over the other two prices. Or maybe the local vehicle market is like the housing market and is all jacked up.

One reason used vehicle prices are IMO outside reality, is the Cash For Clunkers program the last admin did. Taking used vehicles off the road with a large trade in incentive decimated the used market.

I have an 02 150 4wd with 130K 2nd owner miles. I almost sold it for $8K 2 yrs ago till i looked at used prices. $10K + for close to 200K on the odometer?

As for KBB & NADA, don't bother. I did for an 02 pick em up with 140 1 owner immaculate miles, to a kid in our prayer group. That one i should have lookd on CL and what dealers had. Lost $1500 based on CL prices. But he needed it and i gave a price based on what i would expect to pay for a 12 yr old rear wheel drive 100K + miles.

If the offer was good i'd consider selling the 02 F-150 4x4 ext cab that sits here, maintained 2nd owner.

Are you looking at 4x4's or something? If so, I wonder if winter is affecting those prices?

Most likely reason. My vehicle was our 4x4, as a just in case type thing. So I have been looking at 4WD and AWD trucks and SUV's. Biggest reason I like having the 4WD is my daily commute is 20ish miles each way and when we get snow I like having the option.
