Can someone explain the queue etiquette in the trading post please?

You know, where you're the first to respond in the thread but turns out someone else pm'ed before your post or, you pm just minutes after the post but don't bother with the thread post & yet again the item is spoken for... wtf?

Or am i mistaken & there is no etiquette?

Usually the seller honors the first contact whether it be phone, text, private message, email, or post.
I've lost out a few times just in a matter of minutes or seconds after responding to a post via post and someone else called or pm'd.

Many do not show interest publicly.

Entirely up to the seller...

Queue position may not even factor. If a seller chooses not to transact with someone, that's their business.

TP is not ebay BIN.

Sometimes to avoid hurting people?s feelings I?ll put a disclaimer in my sales post saying something like ?first one to post an ?I?ll take it? in this thread gets first dibs.?

Don't take it personally, there is a legit chance that you just came in second place. You haven't really been around long enough to piss any one off anyway.
