Over an hour away, private club, membership is like $500/yr, only have access on certain days. And from what I hear, its a pretty crappy range.

And yes, in the grand scheme of things, thats probably not that bad, especially to the cost of indoor ranges.

But I got used to a $60/yr membership, sunrise to sunset, 7-days a week. 4 private general purpose lanes, 16-pistol lanes, 200-yd rifle and 400-yd rifle. Staffed with complimentary target stands.

edit: its primarily the distance. Losing 2-hrs travel time means Id have to be at the range at least 3-hrs to make it worth it, and thats half a day. Which translates to lots of money in ammo.

Amen to that. Weld cty is $125 365/6 sunrise - sunset out to 200 meters. Pawnee (split fee with other forum members) my part was $30-40 year round sunrise to sunset

Down here it's a 10 - 30 min drive depending how far out i want to shoot. Or the range ($150 membership) able to draw from holster, discount on classes, soon to go out 5-600 yds with steel plates. Or i can drive to the valley and shoot at Ben Avery

Or ....hypothetically suppressed 22 in an undisclosed area

The hummingbird feeders attract a decent flow of traffic. There's an inquisitive one who has no problem literally coming with in inches of you.

He/she fly's around your head, chirps a few times, then takes off. Seeing there's no threat will come back to visit some more before a final goodbye. We're hoping we get a visit when we're sitting down.

Yea, in NM, if I drove an hour, I had access to a 1k+ yd range. Was building up my long range skills at 200-400yds (reloads included) before I went out there. Then we moved and I never got the opportunity.

I just cant justify that cost, especially with the long drive to get to the range. If it was that high and 15-min away, it might be more manageable. Oh well, one day we’ll have better access to a range.

Got a lot of wiring done today....all of the lights are done now.

There's still some stuff to do in the cab but it's mostly done as well.

So OBC, whatcha buildin'? Seems like quite the project! I haven't gone back digging but it looks like it'll be a pretty nice truck when you're finished!

Thank you, I think it will be.

It's a '79 F-250 but it has a 7.3 powerstroke in it. I actually started the project eight or so years ago, but life problems hindered progress for several years. It was actually Labor day weekend last year that I took the cab off the chassis and replaced the first engine that I put in. So...this last year much has happened, and it's getting close to completion. I should be able to get a decent pic of the whole thing after the driveshafts are done and I can get it outside again. Driveshafts are waiting on the T-case install, which should be ready to pick up Mon/Tue latest.
