Yea thanks, its been a total PITA, but the work comp has been relatively hassle free so far, other than having to wait nearly a week after referrals/appts to schedule the next exam. Been waiting since Monday to hear back from the same office regarding scheduling a consult for the surgery and the surgery. This is my last shift at work until 8/30, so it'd be awesome if they could schedule the surgery within that time frame and then get into a few weeks of PT before I have to head back to work. And I haven't taken any time off from work, this is for yearly telescope maintenance, we tear the telescope apart and do preventative maintenance on it every year in July/August for 6-7 weeks.
Had to overnight MRI scans to my doc in CO for the tumors. He's gotta look at them and tell me how bad it really is and how quickly we need to operate. Since the wedding is in October and there is a huge potential for a job change in the next few months, we'll either schedule it ASAP or wait until December/January for that one.

I'm sure you've heard it before but dont put it off. Work comp has been nice to you so far, don't give them a chance to do otherwise.

Ah, no I was talking about the other surgery that I'll be paying for out of pocket. One surgery is to repair my meniscus that I tore at work, that is covered by workers comp and they've already approved my claim.
In the MRI to find the meniscus tear, they found tumors growing inside my femur. I had surgery on that in 2006 to remove the tumor and bone graft it. Apparently, they're regrowing and I'll need another surgery to remove them again and do more bone grafting. This surgery is out of my own pocket and the last time, it was about $40k.
The tumor removal and bone grafting surgery is not as urgent as the workers comp torn meniscus surgery. The tumors are not as large yet as they were in 2006 when they were eating my femur from the inside out, and my femur walls were only 1-2mm thick (as in, I could have tripped off a curb and shattered my femur).

Thanks, me too, but there is always a chance it can come back.
Sucky part is that about 0.14 in 100,000 people get this type of tumor. I tried the lottery back then, didn't win. Had the first MRI a day before my 21st bday, and spent my 21st bday on crutches, heavy pain pills and couldn't even drink.
21 is so overrated. Drank more and enjoyed it more when it wasn't legal... weird.
