Can someone tell me where the trend got started that youtuber's would "check the chambers to make sure they're clear" while doing reviews on guns. Is that a reminder to the stupid folks who don't know gun safety, or do they really feel the need to do that and verbally recognize it while doing a review?

Anyways, watching all of these reviews/comparisons on youtube is getting me rather ticked off. It doesn't affect me one bit if the youtubers have a ND and I'm more than out of harms way. Besides, if they did and still posted the video, I would probably throw everything they said out the window...
I understand it's one of the four rules of gun safety. I check guns that are handed to me even if I just saw the person empty it, but I never verbally say that I'm checking the chamber etc.
Also, if I was posting a review, I would check all the guns BEFORE starting. They only care about the loaded chamber rule, not what's behind the backstop or what they're sweeping the muzzle across or even where their booger picker is during the video.
Perhaps I'm just cranky and woke up on the wrong side of the bed...

It's a measure of the civility in this country that no ones seems to fear constantly pissing off the people who own lots of guns.
