Surrounded by heavy, tall fuel with that rate of advance (20-25 mph). Definitely off road. Lotsa wildland fighters are hurt/ killed racing around in their trucks...

Pretty weird. I admit I was peeking out of my shelter (big no-no) watching the 360 flames. It got warm but not overly hot...

Closest the burn got to us was about 20 yards. Pretty good by any standard. Closest I've ever come to a burn over....

Seen the results of others though, not good. Uncle was in one back in the 70's. He remembers digging out and realizing half the lumps in his crew weren't moving...

Sorry this story got a little dark. I guess I'll try to end it on a high note. We were hailed like triumphant heros when we cleared out of that. Dad, (who was IC). Broke out a special bottle of scotch when we got home...
