They have this thing called a light switch, allows one to turn OFF that light.

I wonder if that is actually code or not; I'd be interested to know as I think you have a great point. I've decided that all outdoor lights should be mounted in the soffit so they light the house, but don't blind you from the street.

As long as the wiring and outlets are outdoor rated i doubt there's any specific code that says the outdoor light Must Be Mounted to the House. Up here it's 50/50

Don't it suck when something you've been looking for gets posted after you log off. Or you missed it till it's been SPF 3 minutes before you log in .

Totally. Been fishing for a Geissele trigger and a seller on Brian Enos posted a Super 3Gun set for $125 while I logged off and had dinner with the family. It sold in 4 minutes.

I leave them on at night because the neighbors to the south (hood) suck.

But even back in Buie, I hated that the lights were right next to the damn door. Night time, light on, every time you go in or out, a fukin moth or some other dumb ass bug flys into the house. It's high end retarded. Every house that's built does it the same way basically.

The expense of rewiring fixtures and fixing holes in your house isn't worth the hassle, which is why they shouldn't do that in the first place.

    Just this cats opinion.

You could use those yellow bug bulbs...... If they are still made.

Edit: yep, they are still made, they are even CFL and LED options for power saving.

As an added benefit, soffit lights look significantly more classy.
