Regarding the microwave. Unless it's a non electrical part, there's a few high voltage areas that could light you up. But hey, you're meticulous so no problem .

It's just a plastic grill, the glass plate, and the plastic track that supports the plate. Those things shouldn't cost anywhere near that much.

RE: that saw, we almost had a "Don't duct tape your saw guard out of the way" PSA the other day.

I have made more than 10 miles of cuts with a circular saw, never once found a situation that gaurd had to be taped/wired open or out of the way.
I definitely should have just used my radial arm saw.
