Feelings on Jet Guns / Uncle Buds

What are your guys feelings on ordering from places like these ?

The reason I ask is there are several industry partners here who are very helpful and I want to support them. My problem I am seeing the psitol I want for like $529 at Gander, Prairie Arms is like $459 but they dont have it in stock. Most of the guys on here are right at $500. There is even a guy kind enough to be trying to sell his used one for $650 elsewhere

Jet guns has the one I want for $439 no shipping charge / no tax / no CC fee. Granted it will take a few weeks to arrive but I am in no hurry.

I guess what I am asking is would you save the $100 even after the transfer fee or buy local. I feel pretty bad but money is tight and $100 buys a few hundred rounds to break it in with ?

I am new to this forum but try to be loyal to local businesses

That pretty much sums it up. If the difference isn't huge, i'll always support the local guy. But, if it's substantial...

Good to check around shops that are cheaper too. Prairie and Gander aren't always the best buys; Green Mountain Guns usually has decent prices. The Shooting Shop in C. Rock can order about anything for a damn good price.

Ganders prices are usually the worst and Prairie's are competitive, but their sales tax is only 4% which is pretty good.

I called a local business asking for a specific Lee die and the guy showed no interest in ordering one in for me, he just wanted to get me off the phone and get on with his day.

That attitude will keep me away from that particular shop, but normally I favor doing business locally. Price and availability will also drive me to the net...

This is pretty much the right answer. As I see it, all ffl's get the same discount on new guns from their supplier. Each one can drop the price of their rifle to whatever the price is that someone else has, if they want to. I usually call around if I find a good deal online and see if anyone will match it. Some have, some don't (probably think I am lying to them even though I give a site reference). Now I don't mean matching either, the local guys just can't do that sometimes because of taxes, which I don't take into account. All in all, it comes down to if the local guys want my business then they will take it.

Called my gun club they can get me $500 OTD which is close enough to $469 (inclduing FFL transfer)

For $30 I will stay local,

Hopefully I will pull the trigger on the purchase in the next few weeks, if a good used one doesnt come up (M&P 40 full or compact) hint hint

You have to do what is right for you. I try to purchase locally when I can but sometimes it is just not feasable for some reasons. I always consider the total price Local price plus tax vs internet price, plus shipping, CC fees and transfer fees. If it is not a significant saving or if the local vendor has spent time educating me and really helping me I will purchase from them. If I have not received the help the I needed locally, they do not stock it and I can save at least 10% I will order online. More than anything it comes down to customer service. Lately I have run into to many shops that just for some reason do not want my money and I order elsewhere.

If you are going to order online make sure to check with your FFL that they will receive from that particular vendor. Some have had bad experiences with vendors and will not longer accept from. You should be able to find a FFL that will do a transfer for $25 or less.

I was doing some price research for some friends Gander and Bass Pro most expensive. Sportmans used to be the cheapest but now middle line. Check 5280 Armory in Arvada (service was much improved over previous experiences) and depending on what it is try Jensens in Loveland (quality of service varies depends on who you talk with).

I prefer to buy local, but I have a friend who bought from Bud's and he had it sent to Green Mountain Guns (GMG). They handled it without a problem. I have bought several guns at GMG and all experiences were positive (after all I was buying a gun). I have bought guns at the Tanner Gun Show and thought it was a good experience. I have bought from Gander and Sportman's Warehouse as well. all were good experiences.

If GMG does not have a gun, they can order it from one of their distributors as well. Gander and Sportsman's will not do that for you (It's what you see, buddy).

The reason I buy local is to support the local gun store so that I have a place to touch and feel the product before I buy.
