Unhappy The Shootist Pistol Range - Break In

    Hey shooters,

I was at The Shootist Pistol Range this morning and discovered they were broken into late last night. The bastards broke in through the main door and used a pair of bolt cutters to remove the cable which secured several long-guns. They made off with a total of:

    5 - AR 15 RIFLES

I spoke with staff there and they advised me they would update me with serial numbers, makes & models tomorrow when I stop by. Regardless if you are a supporter of The Shootist, it's never good to hear about firearms (especially battle rifles) landing into the hands of criminals . If you have any information which could lead to the apprehention of the burglars, contact Englewood PD at 303-761-7410. Thank you.

What were they doing out on the floor and not locked in a safe? That's extremely negligent.

I think a lot of the bigger stores like that are probably like that, and just have locks on the racks, or not at all...

I've been in a lot of shops as they were closing, and they all seemed to clear off the shelves/cases and put them in the safes.

Most gun stores only lock up handguns and any Class III items. Rifles are usually left on the rack.

+1. Big R down in Elizabeth is the only place I know of that clears EVERYTHING off the shelves before closing.

Sucks about the Shootist, I'll keep my ears open.

Hasn't this happened before to them?

They need to invest some money into their security.

Do they have any cameras or an alarm system or anything?
