    Default Self defense ammo question.....

I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday and we were talking about ammo. I told him that I was ordering a few boxes of Federal Premium Tactical 155g HST to try in my Glock 27. He thinks it's illegal to carry in Colorado because it is restricted to law enforcement only. Is there any truth in that?

I know it's sold in their law enforcement line, but I dunno of any legal ramifications as long as there aren't any legalities broken by purchasing it. Got me

There are no laws restricting ammo to LEO.

I think it's a common misconception. I was worried when I ordered some Speer Gold Dot LE's. They were priced at $25 per 50 rounds, whereas the regular Gold Dots were about $20-25 per 20 rounds.

Found out it's basically just grouped in larger quantities, so I order the LE now if they're cheaper!

I personally think it is better to carry the same ammo as your local law enforcement agency. I even send emails to local agencies inquiring what ammo they use. It is a smart move because if you ever actually have to use it you can use that research in your defense. Seeing as how they carry ammo that has been shown not to over penetrate therefore being safer for bystanders and what not. Just some food for thought.
