    Default Your Opinion: Walther P22

What is your opinion on the Walther p22 .22lr pistol?

I've heard it's very reliable with the right ammo, wonderful as a suppressor host, very ergonomic for the ladies or folks with smaller hands, and decently accurate out of the box. Plus, it's not as expensive as some others.

Trying to decide on a .22lr "trainer" pistol.

    Your thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Bear

It's everything you said there, bigbear.

I don't own one but a friend does. I do want one.

As for "trainer" pistol . . . I like introducing people to handguns with my 9 shot Taurus 22LR revolver. The training technique it's best at is loading 3 or 4 rounds randomly and watching for flinching. I can usually train a lot of flinch out of them that way. They can easily see the flinching for themselves too.

The P22 I had was a great gun. It will do everything you need it to do.

Looks like a fun plinkster! Gotta have it just because.

I've shot one before. It was okay it didn't like cheap ammo. I'd like to get a .22 revolver, so I like the idea of a cheap Taurus. A revolver will never fail unless it is broke. I'd like a Smith but they are too much. Although if I found a P22 at the right price i'd get it. Or a MKII

Like mine, the safety would fall down while firing then tighten it up and its GTG. I feed mine the plated .22 ammo the lead round nose(un-plated) would leave chunks of lead and gum it up and I would have to take a bore brush to it. Wish the mags where cheaper and you could get a mag like the Kel-tec PMR-30 to cut down on reloading time
