Default Need assistance on AR 15 Scope Mount

I have a pre ban AR 15 with the permanately attached carry handle. I would like to mount a Leupold Mark AR 4x12x40 rifle scope.

I currently have an original Colt AR 15 4x20 BDC Scope mounted on the carry handle, which works well.

I would like to try my hand at hunting using this rifle, thus the scope upgrade.

    My question is:

What scope mount would I use to attach the new scope with out the worry that it will be mounted too high to get an accurate sight in.

Have not purchased the new scope yet, but want to work out the bugs before putting out the cash for the new set up.

Send me a PM with your suggestions and if you have this specific rifle set up with a similar scope like I'm describing I especially want to tap your first hand experience.

    Thanks In Advance

With the optic on top of the carry handle kiss a decent cheek weld good bye. The only choice you have in mounts is what is known as a cantilever mount. They attach to the carry handle and extend forward and puts the optic on the same plane as the iron sights.
2 problems with this plan: A- the eye relief will be an issue unless you are using a pistol scope. B-a quality cantilever mount is not cheap.
For what you would spend for a good cantilever type mount you are close moneywise to the cost of a flat top upper receiver. Not too much work to change them out if you know what you are doing and then you aren't trying to re invent the wheel.

The factory peep sights work well. They just take a little getting used to.
Buy a flattop if your going to use a scope.
