I like the M1 Garand as well. I used to shoot them competitively.
The M1A/M14 is chambered in 7.62 NATO/308 Winchester. The 30-06 round it too long for the M14 action.

yes i already knew the m1a comes in 7.62x51 (.308 win), i was wondering if they made a version in 30.06 ?thought someone here might know something i didint about the m1a .as i dont know squat about them chances are pretty high . but just the same the hunt begins for a B.A.R.

I told my Dad I wanted one and he said you'd think different if you ever got your thumb caught in the action and encouraged me to get an M1a instead.

guess he never mastered the avoidance of garand thumb.

I wonder what the market research would say, I'd certainly be interested in an M1A chambered in 30-06.

I love my Garand as well! Old school cool to say the least.
I took mine over to my folks place and being able to hand it to my dad who is a WWII vet and at 86 years of age he still snapped her to inspection ready like it was yesterday was pretty cool.
He later told me it was like being reunited with an old friend that you had a love/hate relationship with.

You don't know how nicely they can shoot unless you give them the National Match treatment.
After doing it to mine it was like shooting a totally different rifle it was so smooth.
