Almost Had To!

Last night i was at the mom in-laws house to check out a computer that she wanted to buy from a friend, being im in the technical field and know my computer stuff pretty well she asked if i would take a look at it for her. So i was looking at the laptop for about 15 minutes while my mom in-law was talking to her friend about payment for the laptop. I guess my mom in-law loaned him some money and while they were talking her boyfriend started talking trash about him trying to rip her off. By the way these two guys are in no way model citizens, both have been in trouble with the law many times and that is why i try to stay away form there as much as possible. Anyway they start arguing and then her boy friend goes to the back to get a knife and the mom in-law goes to stop him from doing something stupid and so he leaves to cool off, but the mom in-laws friend is real mad at this time and says i got a gun and if he wants to get a knife lets do this. I am just sitting there at the laptop trying to mind my own business and freaking out on what was about to happen, thank goodness both of us were able to make the situation calm and he went on his way. But i just dont know what i would have done if it got ugly. i know the first thing i was going to do was get the mom in-law to saftey and the rest, well

Sounds like mom in-law needs to redefine who she associates with. I would have got her to safety if possible, called 911 and let the two idiots kill each other over a laptop. I would have written it off as more chlorine for the gene pool.

The only way I would get involved in a situation like that is if she was in danger other wise let the idiots kill each other.

knock m-i-l down. use laptop to take out potential gun holder. slam door dial 911.
you'd be on the "gun puller" faster then he would have time to react. especially him being focused on boyfriend.
either way the m-i-l should be "talked to" for putting you in that scenario.
like say by her neck..... IMHO
but realisticaly with 'friends" like she has. you'd act and have her jump on you for interfering. that by the neck sounds even better now!
then i'd suggets she by one where the chance of it being hot are somewhat less
