So I found some pretty neat info out, but also disturbing things, this weekend... I usually do my "free" shooting up on Squaw Pass near Echo Mtn Ski Area just outside Evergreen. No range fees because it's public land and all that. So I discovered that despite the roads not being all that great (I usually advise people to take a 4WD vehicle with some decent ground clearance) my '05 BMW sedan made it up there with no damage or bottoming out- the road was better than I thought. So after getting up there, there were a few people shooting, which I didn't really mind, except one was kind of an ass and asked that me and the couple already up there would cease fire for a moment while he packed up his jeep and left. He wasn't in the line of fire and there were no safety issues, I guess we just made him nervous.
My main point, however, is that I'm not sure how many of you go up that way to shoot, but as I was cleaning up my targets and packing up my gear when I finished I noticed that there is A LOT of trash up there. I would really hate it if Clear Creek County saw the mess that place is currently in and shut it down for the public to use. I picked up an entire large trash bag worth of crap and it still looks like a landfill. Best bet is to leave it cleaner than how you found it and tell people to clean up after themselves too. Use it, but don't abuse it.
