    Default Best muzzlebrake- flash-hider?

I'm putting together the perfect (for me) lightweight AR 223 carbine. Conflicting opinions on what to put on the muzzle. I'm leaning towards the Vortex. MachineGunTours employees say the PWS J-Tac is the way to go. What do you guys think? What do you use? I'm looking for the best combination of recoil reduction and blast/flash reduction.

I've never felt the need to tame any recoil on a .223/5.56 rifle. That being said, I put flash reduction as the main priority when choosing a muzzle device. There are many options out there as I am sure you know. I have always preferred the Yankee Hill Machine "Phantom" myself. While it might not be quite as good as the Vortex design, I do like the looks better and it does work quite well.

    My 2 cents.

I've heard good things about the Battlecomp as a good compromise between flash suppression and recoil reduction. http://battlecomp.com/

I have a PWS FSC556 on one of my rifles and it works well, though its more of a muzzle brake than flash hider. http://primaryweapons.com/store/pc/v...9&idcategory=6

If you really want to get rid of both then buy a suppressor

We've found that the BattleComp is the best mix of brake/comp/FH. Others are better at one or the other but the BC is the best at all 3.

So many with what probably amounts to very difficult to tell actual differences. I think sometimes just go with what looks best out of 2-3 good reviewed options.

Having given up on building the $2k+ .308 build this year, a battlecomp is the one I'm gunning for on my LWRC. (Before or after a slidefire I don't know.)

Granted recoil reduction is not the most important thing here, given we're talking about a 223. So blast reduction is probably what I'm looking for most. Also cost. I'm trying not to spend $100 on the muzzle piece. I've read an article in "The Book of the AK-47" discussing this, and the J-Tac looks to put out a lot of blast in the pics in that article. I wonder if it is the same for the AR.

Well- I reckon it's been decided, as I just won a very slightly used Vortex off of GB for $32!!
