I was on reserve status when I got mine in May 07. I took them my ID card and a copy of my range card from my last qualification with the M9, and they accepted that without a problem. I would call them and confirm, but if you have a valid ID card and assignment orders, you should be golden. I do recommend that you take a defensive handgun or concealed carry course though, unless you've already had such training. Definitely read up on Colorado law regarding use of force as well. And keep in mind of course that a CCW is not valid on post, that could be an issue for you, especially if you live on post. But yeah, you should be good with your ID card and your PCS orders to Carson. Basically, all they really want is proof that you've been taught how to handle a gun. Hope this helps.
