Entirely American made with American parts.... nice.
    Beveled magwell.... nice.
    Beavertail grip safety.... nice.
    Matched barrel/bushing.... nice.
    Novak sights.... nice.
    User-adjustable trigger.... nice.

Loaded chamber indicator.... dumb (if you chambered a round and forgot, didn't check & clear it after someone handed it to you, etc. you shouldn't be handling a firearm in the first place).
Flat mainspring housing.... personally not a fan, YMMV.
Warning engraved in big letters.... obnoxious.
    Made by Ruger.....

I personally wouldn't spend my money on it, there are much better 1911s out there in that price range.

well everything I have seen and read is saying that the SR1911 is a well made firearm.
and honestly if you are really that concerned about what is engraved on your weapon you are going to have allot more disappointment ahead of you.

I agree with you on the Chamber nanny.

Totally disagree with you on the reliability and performance of a Ruger.
I love my KP944 and the only time I have had a problem with it was in the middle of a sandstorm and it was quite literally full of sand. I Cleaned it and had no further issues.

    Ruger = Under Rated

I'm sure it is a well made firearm... I just don't see any reason to spend $800 on a Ruger with too many things I don't like when that money, +/- a hundred or so, will get a new Springfield, STI Spartan, lightly used Kimber/Wesson/Para, etc.
And as for the engraving... the warning has become a necessary nuisance, but I'd prefer it be a small thing by the manufacturer's stuff rather than a rather large laser engraved label on the dust cover.

There are just some companies/brands I really don't like. Ruger, Chevy/GM, Budweiser, etc.

Most of your firearms manufacturers are doing safety labels/Warnings nowadays... its a sign of the times.
I'm not seeing this obnoxious warning you speak of on the SR1911 though.
It also doesn't actually have a Chamber Nanny
    Here's a fairly unbiased review

Why are you spending $800 for a SR1911? (MSRP isn't the final sale price)
Lowest I found them was $644.99
Where are you getting a Springfield for $650?

Where the hell is the dust cover?

Something tells me you are thinking of a different weapon

I haven't fired one, but it looks like a nice and inexpensive 1911. I love 1911s and have several, most of which I've built myself to match grade accuracy without sacrificing reliability. Mine are a lot pricier that way though.

Honestly, if I was looking for an off the shelf 1911 this one looks like one great deal. All of the goodies, it's not a Colt (which in my experience that's a VERY good thing), no ridiculous firing pin safety that screws with putting a good trigger on it. The one that I handled was in need of a good trigger job, but then what gun these days isn't.

I found a place here in Colorado Springs that will order one (when available) for me for $630.

Hickok45's review of the Ruger SR1911 on YouTube.

I'll go with what my wife says about Ruger when she was looking at getting one.
She picked up 3 of the exact same model (in the 500$+ range), and pointed out how each one was different than the other. Flaws in the grips (cut your hand kind of flaws), finish imperfections, etc.
She will not even consider one now if the quality control is that bad.

Cheaper Than Dirt's word is not the gospel. Just cause they weren't attentive enough to catch it don't mean it ain't there.
See the little groove in the barrel hood?

To me that's just useless and annoying, for reasons stated above.

The dust cover is the section of the frame in front of the trigger guard, who's only purpose in life is to... wait for it.... protect the recoil spring/other internals from dust and debris.
    Ugly annoying warning:

Where am I finding Springfields for that price? Where are you NOT seeing them in that price range?

Thanks, I was beginning to think I was alone here
