    To me that's just useless and annoying, for reasons stated above.

    The dust cover is the section of the frame in front of the trigger guard, who's only purpose in life is to... wait for it.... protect the recoil spring/other internals from dust and debris.
    Yeah my Kimber has the same thing... I dont let it bother me.

    Don't get me wrong its not a deal breaker for me, its just one more thing on the "I don't like it" list, which is too big of a list for me to like this gun.

    I thought for sure they would be junk, but I got a chance to shoot one last week, and I was really impressed, and I'm kind of a 1911 snob. In that price range, it certainly blows the Taurus out of the water, and really gives Springfield, Rock Island and others in that part of the 1911 market a run for their money.

    If I wanted an affordable production 1911, this one would be at or very near the top of the list.
