I had just posted something about this in the Places To Shoot topic... Can't agree more, too many people use the free areas as a garbage dump and it really gets on my nerves that no one has any respect anymore.

Its always a goal of me and my shooting pals to pick up what we shot. Then to pick up that same amount in others trash and shells. If everyone did that every time stuff would stay clean. Lets do it.
Aside from cleaning up your own mess and taking out as much as you can of others messes, consider taking a camera to the range.
You see folks shooting non-standard targets (appliances, glass, electroics, etc.), get some pics of their activity and get some pics of their license plates (casually if possible - remember they are armed too). If they clean up before they leave, no harm, no foul. If they fail to clean up after themselves, give the pics to the USFS to do a they wish.

Ooooo good idea. That thought never crossed my mind. Too many times I go up to Squaw Pass to shoot and there is crap EVERYWHERE. It gets me down because some of it is not easy to pick up. I went up last weekend and shot plastic drink bottles, but cleaned up. I usually just shoot clays (no need to clean up) and paper targets. I've seen glass, electronics, dining ware, you name it. And some people just don't clean up. So next time if I spot them you can bet they're getting reported.
