Time to get familure with the "other states" Conceal Laws. I am heading out of town for a few weeks for work. I printed them off at www.handgunlaw.us If anyone else has other info I need to be aware of please let me know, or if you are really familure with these two states any additional info would be greatly appreciated.

You should have full reciprocity in both states, but it pays to check for any weirdness in the ordinances.

Thanks Fogger - Just want to be sure there are no "weird" conceal laws I need to be aware of, so far I have not come across anything.

While I don't claim to be any sort of an expert, it is my understanding that NE tends to be fairly anti-gun --- particularly around Omaha (strict laws in Omaha as I understand it).

Yeah, I did read that in Omaha you can only carry in a vehicle if you have your CCW, period. Here is for the Stae of NE:

• You are allowed to carry concealed handgun anywhere in Nebraska except:
  • Police, sheriff, or Nebraska State Patrol station or office
  • Detention facility, prison, or jail
  • Courtroom or building which contains a courtroom
  • Polling place during a bona fide election
  • Meeting of the governing body of a county, public school district, municipality, or other political subdivision
  • Meeting of the Legislature or a committee of the Legislature
  • Financial institution
  • Professional or semiprofessional athletic event
  • Building, grounds, vehicle, or sponsored activity or athletic event of any public, private, denominational, or parochial school or private or public university, college, or community college
  • Place of worship
  • Hospital, emergency room, or trauma center
  • Political rally or fundraiser
  • Establishment having a license issued under the Nebraska Liquor Control Act that derives over one-half of its total income from the sale of alcoholic liquor
  • Place where the possession or carrying of a firearm is prohibited by state or federal law
  • A place or premises where the person, persons, entity, or entities in control of the property or employer in control of the property has prohibited permit holders from carrying concealed handguns into or onto the place or premises
  • Any other place or premises where handguns are prohibited by law or rule or regulation.
• A place or premises that has prohibited permit holders from carrying concealed handguns onto the premises must post conspicuous notice, or ask the permit holder that the firearm be removed, before the permit holder is in violation of this section.
• Permit holder may not be consuming alcohol, or have any alcohol or controlled substance remaining in his/her blood, urine, or breath.

There are also a handful of cities that prohibit Conceal Carry. Yikes!

Also, as of Jan 1, 2011 Iowa has a "Shall issue" gun law which law enforcement is not fond of, so much that the Police Chief sent out "No Guns Allowed" Stickers to 300 local business (see link): http://thetruthaboutguns.com/2011/02...00-businesses/

I will be back-and-forth between Council Bluffs, IA and Omaha, NE during the College World Series coming up in mid through late June for work, so I am just trying to be sure that "I'm on top of it." I will double check Omaha specifically since that is where I will be most of the time.
