I took my Remington 700 XCR 300 Ultra Mag to the gunsmith. He pillar bedded it, floated the barrel, trigger job, cut off a inch and a half off the barrel and put on a Holland muzzle brake. I should add that this gunsmith is about a 45 minute drive from my house. My bill was around $460 bucks.

When I first got the gun home I noticed the safety was not right. It was very hard to put on or take off of safety. I went right back to the gunsmith. He almost acted like I was insulting him until he tried to work the safety and saw how bad it was. He apologized and repaired it while I waited.

I took the rifle to the range and zeroed it in and shot about 30 rounds through it. I was not getting the accuracy that I got from the Remington 700 300UM that I had recently sold. I took it home and started looking at it and it was very clear that the stock was touching the barrel in more than one place.

I had to take it back to the gunsmith. Again he repaired it while I waited. I know we are all human but I expect more from a gunsmith than that. I won't be going there again. Very mild rant over!

I'm kind of worried about the rest of the work that was done on my gun.
