Help finding a pic
Looking for a picture of a carbine length Vltor Vis 7" upper with a 14.5" barrel and the stock triangle front site(sorry i dont know the proper term for it)
building my upper now friend says to go with the longer vis 2 9" upper and BUIS
i like the look of the triangle front site i just dont know if the carbine upper is going to leave too much barrel hanging out
TIA

the seven inch rail was meant for carbine gas systems, so the FSB will fit fine. Just make sure you get a barrel with holes for the two FSB pins, or get them drilled out later by a gunsmith.
If you do go with a standard FSB, and want the 9" rail, you'll need to switch to a barrel ported for a midlength gas system(9"), instead of a carbine length(7").
If it were me I'd choose the middy barrel w/a BUIS, and a 12 inch RIS, but thats just personal preference. It opens up a lot of doors on down the road, and saves you a bit of cash if you dont want to permanently co-witness an optic.
BUT....... its your gun, so do what you think looks best to you. Thats what building a gun is about. If you have any more Q's then just ask.
hope this helps,
Kenny

I have seen what I THINK he is talking about...
a carbine running a low mount gas block, a rifle length handguard and a fixed front site(Front site is pinned but barrel not drilled for gas)
