    There was some talk a while back about the city opening a public range south of the Cheyenne Mountain area ... but I have no idea whether this is ever going to happen (hard to find any references to it online so maybe I just dreamt it ).

    Ah HA ... it wasn't a dream ... here's an article (and its the county, not the city that might open it).
