I don't think that tearing a bus apart on a whim is a good use of our money and I don't think they need helicopters and boats. TSA should stick to airports, bus and train stations. Leave the rest up to people who know what they are doing. I do see how it is somewhat within there right to search a bus ( a mode of transportation that they control), but they need to know what they are looking for. "large sums of cash" can be left up to interpretation and is not acceptable. I am ok with them searching for bombs, gas, and wmd's. Also, don't think for a second that you are going to take my gun from me.
I disagree. The TSA shouldn't even exist at all.

I agree with you there. I actually went to a concert last weekend at Red Rocks and with the searches they were doing I had to ask "You guys aren't off duty TSA employees are you?" When they said no I was tempted to ask but didn't: "So you're part of the SS? or the Gestapo?"

Ok. So we get rid of the TSA. Then the terrorists do whatever they want. We have seen how well that works. Looks like my GF will have to quit her job working in the Republic Plaza (one of the tallest buildings in downtown denver) for fear of air attack.

Hell no, in the absence of law people will usually police themselves. It's not like we're advocating a vacuum here, we just use something that doesn't have the range of the TSA's "Authority." Maybe get rid of the TSA was wrong word choice... limit their powers and try and stay away from becoming a police state. In Mother Russia police can shoot violators with AK-47 rifle. We wouldn't want that now would we?

isnt that what I said in my first post? Limit them to the sectors that they cover. Planes, busses and Trains. Someone needs to police those and they need to be able to share information easily throughout the country so it can't be done locally. They should have a very limited scope of what they can look for in a search. If they preform a random search and they find that someone has something that violates local or federal laws but was not on their list of items they can search for then they should let that person be on their way.

I dont think me being strip searched and having my money confiscated because I was walking by a bus station is going to make your girlfriend safe from flying Buses.

So I shouldn't care about other peoples rights being violated until it happens to me?

I'm on your side. I hate big government, over regulation and taxes. I dont know where you guys are getting the idea that the TSA enjoys strip searching you. You can make stuff up and blow things out of porportion all that you want to but it doesn't help your arguement. They pulled a bus over (which they have the authority to do, and patted some people down. I'm sure they didn't anal probe these people. It's probably the same half assed pat down that you get at a Bronco's game. Just like any other job the TSA swat team or what ever they call themselves doesn't want to be doing this. They want to be doing real work. The problem is that the guys above them in the suits have to justify their request for more money so they do stupid stuff like this to show that they are trying to make a difference.
