Yeah I'm about as atheist as one can get, but who cares if it is in there? If you don't like it just dont say it.
Edit: I say it, cause it's part of the pledge to America, not the pledge to god.

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Haw haw haw?..
Here's what I just wrote to NBC Sports:
To whom it may concern,
In regards to your presentation of the US Open on your network and the grievous, un-American error someone at your network made of omitting the words "One nation, under God," has me speechless and disgusted. I refuse to believe that something like this can happen at a time like this. You display US Armed Service members, a community I am a proud veteran of, and have the Pledge playing in the background, then leave a part of it out? How dare you. Your employees may not agree with the phrase of "Under God" but it is tradition, that's what the founders of this nation believed, and that is the words of our Pledge, something I feel very passionately about and have taken that Pledge to heart so many times I have lost count. I don't care if your network wishes to remove religion from your lives, or have a distinct separation from your network and religion, this is the way things are in America. You don't omit "Rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air" from the National Anthem just because you're a non-violent person who doesn't believe in violence. Thus, you do not omit anything from our Pledge of Allegiance. Your apology was far from sincere regarding this error and I do hope you get your act together. If you or your employees do not like the way things are done here in America I invite you to leave post haste.
Thank you for your time,
Ryan C. Davidson

seems like they left out indivisible too.
Do a little research and you might find that the God thing was added later.
that's how I look at that part too.
Personally, I think it's dumb that the PCness in our country now is doing crap like this, but the most important thing to me is how I act and what I believe. So really, I could care less what NBC does. I'll still watch their shows. I do have a line though: I won't EVER fly Delta again... Don't f with our military, that's my line...

You want the TRUE meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance?
Look up Red Skelton's presentation of the Pledge. So very eloquent indeed.

Being "PC" will be the suicide of this once great nation.
Interesting that the pledge has been edited several times in the past. In '54 Eisenhower adds "Under God" to show how much more pius we were compared to the godless commies.
I'm kinda surprised it's still there. It doesn't fit the pledge and throws the cadence off.
Ah, the good old days.
