Default Range Cleanup Day, June 25th - South Site

With the recent ‘bad publicity’ in the Gazette on irresponsible shooters in the Pikes Peak National Forest, I want to organize a Range Cleanup Day. I’m shooting for this Saturday, June 25th at the South Site area. Next weekend is the 4th of July weekend, so didn’t want to do it then and I feel it’s important to jump on this quick. I will be taking ‘Before & After’ pics of the work we did and post them on the site to show the awesome work we did.

I may also script an e-mail to send to the local media to let them know not ‘all shooters’ are dragging up water heaters and computers to shot at and we don’t shoot at tree’s. I’ll be bringing trash bags, rakes, water, soda and snacks for us to eat as we work. This will be more of a cleanup/hanging out type day rather than shooting. Not to say I won’t bring a plinker or 2 to have some fun with J

It was mentioned in another thread about not having your pic taken as to not be associated with a ‘Gun Club’. That’s cool, but come up and help out anyway, I won’t snap a pic of anyone, just the work being done !

Let me know if you can make it so I'll know how much drink & snacks to bring.

I'll be there about 7:30 in hopes of getting the main range area blocked off from shooters so we can clean.
As far as trash dumping, haven't worked that out yet, but I know I can dump several bags (some pallets too) in the dumpster at work.

    Thanks,
    Kyle

What time and where can we dump the trash after, any landfills or just to the nearest hippies house?
Id like to be there to load up the truck and help out.

About 1.5-1.75 hours if you take the scenic route (Hwy 285 to Pine Junction, turn left at the light on CO 126, turn right in Deckers on Hwy 67.)

For trash dumping, I can take a couple of pallets and several bags to dump at work. I'll take the rest of the bags home to put in my garbage can for regular trash guys to get. Last time I was up there, I didn't see any appliances, just a few pallets.

    South Shooting Spot

    SOUTH SHOOT N39 08.603 W105 07.697 7864 ft
If you go to Google Maps (http://maps.google.com) and enter this GPS LAT/LONG (N39 08.603 W105 07.697) into the search block it will bring you to the location of the South Site.

Looking forward to seeing as many of you there as can make it!

Oh yeah, don't forget to bring your leaf rakes - it makes getting those pesky shotgun shell hulls together so much easier.

ETA: alxone: (1) You don't sound like an a$$; and (2) I can't thank you enough for your efforts for all shooters.
