Here's the letter I sent to Mike Coffman, my representative:
Hon. Mr. Coffman,
I do not expect this to be answered directly, but I would like to make you and other elected representatives aware of something that is beginning to become quite an alarming issue among your constituents. I read an article recently about a Washington Post Reporter who is in our country illegally, and has been for some time. He recently announced his status and is running his own campaign to aid in granting amnesty for himself and others like him. The link to the news story is: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2738366/posts
I would like to inform you that this issue is very important to me and my family, and something needs to be done about this. Is someone, whoever enforces our federal immigration laws, asleep at the wheel? How can these people, who aren't even here legally, slip passed some of our strongest layers of security (like the White House) and then get away with it? How can they be allowed to work illegally for large, legitimate businesses and those businesses continue to operate as they are? Who is responsible for enforcing these laws? Why does it seem to me like some or all of those responsible aren't doing their jobs? I would greatly appreciate some sort of effort, not just for the security of our nation, in which I gladly spent some of the best years of my life defending, but also for our comfort, to enforce, secure, and defend America from those who willfully break our laws. I'm deeply concerned that this issue isn't getting any attention, and something should happen soon or we will continue to slip down a slope that I fear will be to difficult to get back up. And as a side note, I was raised to believe that in America we speak English. Why is it that we continue to bend to the will of those who immigrate here and refuse to employ the language of this nation? I appreciate all the hard work you do for our great state and thank you for your service (militarily and as our representative) to our great nation.
