    I used to hang down there during that time: Rock Island, Wazee Supper Club, Calvins, Skyline Cafe, City Lights. I think it actually started getting gentrified in more of the mid 90's. I don't think the 15th St. Viaduct came down until '91.

    Quite honestly I think it was safer back then than it is now, even as dark and desolate as it was. Now it's the party place for the whole Metro area, so no wonder it attracts less than desirables.
