Default Is Rollins to Winter Park still closed?

So I've been looking into taking Rollins Pass Road from Rollinsville to Winter Park. From what I can find on line, the fudge packers in Boulder County closed the pass several years ago, and everyone (off road community AND the county on the Winter Park side) are game to open it back up, but Boulder won't have it. The info I found about this was from back in '06-'07 and people were saying that a re-opening was in the works and could be as soon as 2009. Anyone know if the Boulder Wagon Trail has been reopened? If so, it'd sure make the trip to our cabin on that side of the divide more fun.

I rode my mountain bike up there last year and you can take your car to Yankee Lake but no further.

There are a few gates up there and it was hike or bike only to the top.

Ugh, so lame. Boulder is using the reason that it is a Wildlife Area, which means no man made stuff in the area. They, of course, are completely ignoring the road that has been there for 150 years, the railroad, AND the pipe line that run through there.

    Thanks for the info.

Anyone know how far up you can go on the Western side? Something tells me it is likely less crowded on that side. Sure would be nice to only have to drive 50ish miles to our cabin instead of 99...

To my knowledge, Rollins Pass is in Gilpin County.

There is still a lot of snow up there. It has been open in the recent past but I don't know about this year.

Edit: Ah, the Boulder office of the NFS. I haven't heard much good come out of it. Seems their philosophy is to shut down anyplace that might make them have to do their job.

Sadly, no. The pass and The BWR are closed, in violation of Federal Law...

And they were going to reopen Corley Mountain Highway as well but we see where that went. I am sorry, many here know it as Gold Camp Road.

Can you take the trail from W Ranch Trail Rd (From S Turkey Creek Rd off of 285), through to Manor House Rd in Ken Caryl?
