Anybody ever use one of these? Looked kind of intriguing... Think it could work on the hood of a truck? Posting from my phone, so if the link doesn't work, maybe somebody could help me out. Thanks!

I'd do it in the trunk of a car long before I'd put it under the hood of a truck. Most trucks now a days wouldn't have the room to fit a whole rifle under there anyway.

Well,
There's Jerry MRC's rifle rack for his GTO. Now all he needs is a set of Maggies...![]()
Somehow the plastic furniture and live ammunition of an AR-15 in direct contact with the engine of a car doesn't seem like a good idea.
I've seen those in cop cars before
trunk only. would not work under a hood.
It could work under a tonneau cover on a truck but definitely a bad idea under the hood.
You can tell in the picture that it is for a trunk. Maybe on the back tail gate of an SUV as well.

pretty stupid idea IMO. you have to pop the hood or the truck, then get access to it after you get out of your vehicle. I can recall at least 2 member issues on here that they were with their families in their vehicle with a very close call. popping the trunk or the hood to get to the weapon to provide defense was out of the question.
the ones that go on the rear glass are okay and provide access, but a handgun is the best chance when it comes to a vehicle.
besides, under the hood, the gun is going to get exposed to decently high temps on a constant basis. also the weather is a factor where rust and corrosion of the ammo can occur. space is an issue in new vehicles, I highly doubt this would fit in my 2010 silverado....my 97 probably would fit.
I'm 99.27% sure it's for cop Crown Vics.
I'd say that at best, it would be better to have a rifle mounted to your trunk securely, instead of bouncing around in a case, taking up extra room. That really only goes for transporting though. However, I'd rather have a rifle mounted in my trunk, than under my bed at home. While many situations would make it impossible to reach, not ALL situations would. I'd call it 50/50.![]()
