    I'd say that at best, it would be better to have a rifle mounted to your trunk securely, instead of bouncing around in a case, taking up extra room. That really only goes for transporting though. However, I'd rather have a rifle mounted in my trunk, than under my bed at home. While many situations would make it impossible to reach, not ALL situations would. I'd call it 50/50.

    I actually dont have the room in the hood of my silverado, but in an older truck, (like a standard cab, where space is a premium) and not directly over the engine, I bet it would work in the engine bay. You really think temps get hot enough say a foot away from the block, to cook off rounds?

    Just not sure of the dimensions. crazy idea thats all haha
