shopping for a shotgun for a 12 year old!

My son is 12, pretty puny and doesn't like loud noise or recoil haha! But we are taking him private land turkey hunting this year so I need to find him a gun. I am leaning towards the 12 gauge with reduced recoil loads. I have ammo for 12 and 20 gauge. I was contemplating one of the cheaper over unders, a good gas driven gun would be good but I don't know of any cheaper ones.

Any reccomendations on a cheaper gun a 12 year old can work that won't dislocate his shoulder?

How about a single shot, Rossi shotguns are fairly inexpensive.

A single shot, cut the stock down and put a really good sorbethane pad on it. I've seen used ones under $100. You could just buy him a VersaMax and tell him it is his college fund so he is on his own there.

Mossy makes several different versions of the Youth 500 in 20 Ga. It's less expensive than the youth Remington 870. H&R Pardner or Mossy's Maverick are less expensive still. Of course they are all pumps.

You may be able to find a Mossberg Silver Reserve Youth 20 Ga. at a Walmart somewhere to satisfy the O/U configuration, no idea what they cost though. Buds shows them over $550.

Shoot mini shells... minimal recoil to start with.

The 7.5 ounce Aguila minis are probably a bit anemic for Turkey. Full power 2 3/4" #4 Flite Control is as low as I would go.

Edit. 7.5 shot size, one ounce load.
