If the thief had fired or threatened him then returning fire to stop the threat would be understandable.

To open fire on a shoplifter that has run off with a $12 bottle of vodka is ridiculous It wasn't self defense if they were driving away..

Article says guy was hit on the head as he left the store to pursue shoplifters. I guess maybe he should have waited til they run him over with the car too? Article shows that Colorado Springs residents are sick of being victims of criminals, grand jury findings reflect this.

understand your point, but I have to agree with hip on this one...

I hate thieves more than anything pretty much, but shooting them while they're running away? I dunno about that...

I give up! Guy gets ripped off, then he is assaulted. Shoots one shot...hits thugs...and you guys think his actions are wrong. It's just too bad he didn't kill them!
