We have a reputable business owner who's been shot in a prior robbery.

Now some scumbag comes in his business and steals from him. He's stealing the man's livelihood. The thief is taking the equivalent of food from his table, gas from his car, money to pay his health care, money to fund his retirement. In other words, the fuckin little thief is stealing this man's life.

Fuck this guy. I wish he'd died. I'm glad the grand jury refused to return an indictment.

and monetary valued items can be compensated for. A persons life cannot. Once it's gone, it's gone. Not always the case in stolen goods.

There isn't a very good accounting of the sequence of events that led to the shootin in this article IMO. For me, I cannot determine if the shooting was justified or not. Im glad to see CO Springs using Grand Juries to determine how to proceed in these types of situations. It clearly shows they are leaning towards the citizens beliefs on these matters instead of leaning towards a view of prosecutors disgression in filing charges.

Who knows if there would have been a second attack on the store owner? Without actually having been there to witness it or a video to show what happened, one can only speculate.

there's a liquor store in a strip mall on south circle that I used to go in a lot.

I don't drink, so being sober I always went on the "oh crap, it's getting late we better get more beer before the store closes" run.

the older asian guy that owned the store was a nice fellow. he was shot and killed in a robbery.

I don't think we should chop off hands, but the pendulum of the system has swung too far in favor of criminals.

it needs some revamping to put some justice back in the legal system.

I personaly think he should have done time for attemted murder, do to the fact the guy was running away. There was no threat and in fact no reason to chase after him, much less shoot him. What he should have done was got the plate number of the car, description of the guy who shoplifted the vodka, and called 911, with the last known direction they were going. I would bet my bottom dollar they would have been pulled over shortly after, and the vodka would have been recovered in there possesion, and bam bad guy in jail, and shop owner not in hot water. Now there is no way of knowing if that would have gone down that way, but imo it should have been handled that way.
