I dunno. He should have let the punk flee IMO. The store owner lucked out big time.
If the thief had fired or threatened him then returning fire to stop the threat would be understandable.
To open fire on a shoplifter that has run off with a $12 bottle of vodka is ridiculous It wasn't self defense if they were driving away..
Article says guy was hit on the head as he left the store to pursue shoplifters. I guess maybe he should have waited til they run him over with the car too? Article shows that Colorado Springs residents are sick of being victims of criminals, grand jury findings reflect this.
So, you want all thieves and law breakers to be fired upon? Maybe we should start chopping peoples hands off because they stole something.
Wait, this isn't Saudia Arabia- we are better than that.

I personally wouldn't have shot at him, but I'm glad that he got shot.

I think the outcome would have been different if he had killed him.
I agree. This guy was very lucky to get off like he did.

I give up! Guy gets ripped off, then he is assaulted. Shoots one shot...hits thugs...and you guys think his actions are wrong. It's just too bad he didn't kill them!
Here's the way I look at it.
When you fire your weapon at another human being you are doing so to stop a threat. If you succeed in stopping that threat, you are likely going to take that person's life.
Am I going to shoot at someone for stealing my yard furniture? My Mailbox? My car?
No I'm not.
If they point a weapon at me or I feel my life is in danger, then I will vigorously defend myself to stop that threat.
