Default Why can't the challenged just stay in town

Went up to the Henderson mine today because it's not too far from Golden. Took my son and a guy that works for me. First we went on a hike that took us above timberline. Couldn't believe how many people were back there skiing hiking and snowmobiling. Never did bother shooting due to large number of people. After the hike we decide to hit up the Urad Lake to see if we could catch a few trout.
After we settle in my 4 year old catches a small rainbow 5 minutes into fishing. Then after a total of 15 minutes of fishing a couple with their two kids ask it that's my 3/4 ton truck at the top of the hill. Fuck now what. I figured they ran into or something along those lines. Nope they tried to get a 2 wheel drive car all the way to the top and are now stuck with 2 wheels hanging over the edge. We go up the hill and drive down the road to see if we can help. So much for fishing. They have their car with both passanger wheels off the road on a slope you'd have a hard time walking down. Then if they had gone over they would have had about a 100 yard roll down the hill before ending up in the lake. WOW what a moron. You have your Pontiac Grand Prix 5 miles up a dirt road and decided when you saw snow just to keep on going. Squeeze between the snow drift and a near cliff. I bet the wife shit her pants cause her view from the passanger window had to be pretty grim.
This was a one way in and out type of deal. If he didn't move I couldn't leave. DAMN. Someone else had the tow strap. I was really worried that if his car went he could possibly drag my truck with it. I handed my employee my knife and told him that if at anytime he saw the car start to slide to cut the nylon strap. I had my driver door open so I could bail if needed. First try I just spun tires. Had a bucket of sand in the back of the truck and spread that down. Then was able to pull him right back onto the road. Picture doesn't do it justice. That was a STEEP slope. Also wanted to take more pics but I didn't get the camera out till the strap was on and it was time. After all that excitement we were done for the day and just came on home.

glad you helped them. If there was a way to get around them I would not have risked my truck or wasted my gas or transmission. let them pay a tow truck driver to pull them out. I am sorry but pure stupidity like that deserves to learn a lesson.
Im sorry stupid people wasted your day with your son.

Good story! I have been in the same situation they were in but I was in a lifted wrangler. It's a scary feeling when you're on the side of a cliff and one or more tires are hanging off!

I nearly got myself into a similar situation once. My truck was stuck in the snow, and the tires were on the very edge of a very steep slope. I wouldn't have had a chance if the truck went over. This was at the TOP of a switch back pass that was above timber line.

Annnd- they paid you how much for your good deed? If someone did that for me- I'd give them every penny I had in my wallet. You saved their proverbial asses.

Riding the atv's on the divide we came across a group riding in a Caddy Escalade.
They wanted to know if we would take a picture of them petting the Goats...
    What a bunch of Marroons.
