Why not call him "My Uncle"?
Some folks are quietly offended by the actions or even the mere presence of those who are different from us. Even though you write that you "don't hate them all", you are clearly not comfortable around homosexual folks.
I will be brutally honest in my opinion... This man is not really trying to "shove his views down your throat". He is just being himself. You can either accept him as he is or you can choose to keep him away but we cannot expect others to change their ways to please us.
The most important thing to be learned from those who demand "Equality For All" is that all are not equal...

My turn, brutal honesty is fun. I have no problem with someone being gay. When they're flaming, proud, in your face, whatever about it is when it annoys me. I'm not talking about the ones that talk with lisps, my mother was a speech therapist and I've never associated lisps and such with gays, I'm talking about the ones that go around asking if anybody has "dick flavored gum."
I see gays the same as I see mentally retarded people, and I can't help but feel sorry for them. The way I see it, they're broken (in an evolutionary sense). Gays generally claim that its something they were born as, not a choice. Based on that, something went wrong in their DNA and some wires in their brain got crossed, causing them to be attracted to members of the same sex. From an evolutionary standpoint, they aren't capable of reproducing and continuing the species, and will die without having created offspring, eliminating them from the gene pool (think Darwin here). They can still function just fine in society and be a productive member of our society, and so I have absolutely no problems with them, they don't bother me and I don't have any kind of prejudice towards them... I just don't see that as something to be "proud" of, and when they are its just annoying. You might see my opinion as prejudiced or hateful or what have you, I see it as logical.
I don't think you'll find a person in the entire world that doesn't have the desire to be "proud" of themselves, no matter how they were born.

This was explained to me once by a very cute bi-girl, essentially, they aren't "proud" to be gay in the sense you're thinking, as much as it's the opposite of shame. Many (most?) of them are (were?) told that being gay was wrong, and they should be ashamed to be so. Thus the whole "keeping it in the closet" thing.

So did the movie suck?

Great point! Evolution has an answer for them...
I am not comfortable around some homosexuals... I'm fine with them choosing what they do in life, but does it mean I support or approve of it? No. But that is a CHOICE I have made for myself. Celebrate the freedom to choose. I can choose not to like something or to like something, but gay buttsecks is something I find quite nasty.
No, it was an awesome movie, just could have done without Jack (ala Will & Grace) talking loudly every 10-20min.
