Your doorbell is likely hardwired to a low volt (10 volts I think?) power source, possibly in your attic. So if you want to keep it similar, it's a matter of rerouting that wire.

Yeah. This is just for those approaching the door and what you see there. I plan to get a more complete picture come spring like I do in the back and side yards. It's difficult to post pictures because I have to downres them for size and then they don't look very good. My Ring Doorbell 2 has a battery and the standard doorbell transformer keeps it at 100%. I could have gone through the effort of upgrading the transformer (mine's in the utility closet in the basement), but didn't want to go that far. I have a dual battery unit in the garage since there's no available power. It works well, but I really hate charging/replacing batteries.

Yes and no. Our HOA states that all vehicles inside the complex must be currently registered, insured and road worthy I.E. no projects or anything of that nature. You can't have it legal and be rebuilding it or working on it. On top of that, we have assigned parking and one of his was in our assigned spot.

We have a town home and I know there is a small space for the attic but I've never been in there to see what I can actually access. That is really what I would like to do is face it towards the street but then again, I am not sure if it can be done nicely.

Does your front door have a peephole looking straight out the door?

This became an option recently and I think the target audience is Condo/Apartment dwellers; https://shop.ring.com/products/door-...ecurity-camera

If this was an option when I was setting things up, I probably would have left the existing doorbell alone and gone with this option looking straight out toward the street.

It does and I did look at that but $199 was pretty steep for me. I am hoping this universal cam will work so I don't have to shell out $200 for one camera.

I hear ya. I was looking at overall cost of ownership and having unlimited recording/cameras plus professional monitoring of my home alarm for $100/yr, it made sense to me.

Dipping your toe in and seeing what you like and don't like is a good idea to find out where you ultimately want to go with a solution. I had Arlo cameras before these.

definitely like an opinion of that meco unit. Regarding a camera picking up bushes moving.

The one for the front entrance of the house in windsor sent me 20 alarms one day. WFT nothing showing for someone trying to gain access, or even walk on the sidewalk. After running through all them, in sequence, you could see it was picking up the leaves moving across the lawn, in the wind.

I'll let you know how it does. The Wyze one currently will pickup the bush moving in the wind but literally won't pickup the car pulling in or someone walking up the door to drop off a package. The Wyze brand also has an option that it will highlight the movement so you know why i is alerting but like I said won't pickup anything that I really want it to. The others around the house work great but they aren't trying to focus through a window.

The powered ring cameras have highly customized motion zones, so you can basically blank out the items that move so you don't get notifications. As to triggering with leaves, there's also a sensitivity option. From picking up everything all the way to only people.

Please do let us know what you think of your little Meco.

Reminder: "Post a picture of your latest purchase"

While this topic interests me I'm sure lots of people aren't interested in pages of posts about doorbell cams. Personally I feel that the Amcrest offering is currently best for several reasons. I'd be happy to discuss in a dedicated thread.
