That was my thought as well. You fire a gun directly at someone (oh, so you were only trying to hit/kill the dog that was in your husbands arms?) and it's an "accident"? Just what does it take to get constituted to be even manslaughter - putting the gun to his temple before pulling the trigger? Or, maybe, if she had "accidently" killed an intruder while protecting her home in the middle of the night, then it would be a crime.
