Default What the **** is up with cell phones?

My cell phone that I have loved up until about a week ago is going to drive me nuts!!! It's worked great since I got it, but now that I'm almost ready for an upgrade, the darn thing has been shutting down on its own - sometimes it comes back on by itself, and others I have to turn it back on, and then today my email stopped working - that only took two hours and a total reset/erasure of the phone to get corrected. My wife's phone is also starting to act up, although it's been a little tempermental for a while. It's almost like there is some kind of "upgrade" for the phones that you automatically get when you're closing in on an upgrade date that makes your phone act up so you want to spend money on a new one.

Is it a blackberry? I've had many, great until they pull that. Then there's nothing to do but get a new one. Sometimes 6 months, sometimes a year and a half.

Nope, a DroidX. I'm looking forward to spending another couple hundred and renewing my contract for another two years when I have to replace it, and I'm really starting to miss the days of a cell phone being a phone and nothing else.

Exactly! I have a Samsung something-or-other. Nice, mid-sized flip phone. It does have a decent camera. Other than that it's got capabilities that I just don't care about. I just want a damn phone.

I had a Droid and hated it.

The reason most folks have a problem with the droids is because the carriers put on so much bloatwear that it causes the phones to work like crap. My advice to anyone with a Droid is to root the phone, and find a rom that you like. The phone performance is pretty amazing after that.
